University Life

Agnes just forwarded me one of those emails, "You know you've been in university for too long when..." and a couple of them really stood out and made me laugh. Here's my edit of the list...

1) You'd rather clean than study especially if an essay is due.
2) "Oh shit how did it get so late!" comes out of your mouth at least once a night.
3) Parents' cooking becomes something you desire, not avoid.
4) You schedule your classes around sleep habits and soap operas.
5) You live for getting mail.
6) Looking out the window is a form of entertainment. (Even more true when it's done at the Dana Porter Library.)
7) Rubbish cheap $1 shops are so cool.
8) The weekend lasts from Thursday to Monday.
9) Highlighters are the coolest things on earth.

And now for the "Before I came to University, I wish I had known" list (Mau's edit)
1) That it didn't matter how late my first lecture was, I'd still sleep through it.
2) That if you wear polyester everyone will ask why you are so dressed up.
3) That you can know everything and fail a test.
4) That you can know nothing and ace a test.
5) That Psychology is really Biology, that Biology is really Chemistry, that Chemistry is really Physics and that Physics is really Maths.

And here's the "Top 10 Reasons that University is like Elementary school"

10) You cry for your mother.
9) You cross the street without looking for cars.
8) Snack time is a necessity.
7) You bundle up for the outdoors without caring what you look like (because everyone else looks as stupid as you do).
6) You stay at home and play games with your friends.
5) You wear your backpack on both shoulders.
4) You wear big mittens.
3) Playing in the snow is a legitimate activity.
2) You take naps.
1) You look forward to cheese toasties.

There you have it. I found these to be pretty damned laughing (especially the one about looking out the window as a form of entertainment, and the dressing in polyester one.)

And, if you haven't guessed, this is merely one of my ways of procrasting on my historiographical paper. Now, back to work!
